We’ve just moved into our new facility in New York, ready to take on the next stage of our growth, by building a new, energetic, vibrant, driven and dynamic sales team.

The on-line e-commerce Marketplace is rapidly evolving, and the category manager has the exciting opportunity to drive growth and shape the future of how a brand (vendor) evolves.

You will work closely with the brand partners to understand their current retail strategies, and, using our data driven tools, help them develop relevant sales and growth strategies, whilst negotiating the tactics that drive growth and adapt to on-line retail.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the relationship with the key brand partners all the way within their organisation.

  • Be the main point of communication with our brand partners, understanding their needs and requirements.

  • Support our brand partners by being our category ‘expert’, helping clarify their questions.

  • Simplify complex ideas, using our market leading tech, and present solutions for growth to our brand partners, credibly…

  • Help our brand partners navigate their on-line business knowledgeably, using our tech.

  • Flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing needs of on-line businesses, especially Amazon marketplace.

  • Achieve deeper penetration into our brand partners business, thereby growing sales & customer satisfaction scores, whilst improving cost prices into us.

  • Requires the right combination of attention to detail, grit, perseverance and curiosity, to help brands understand the opportunity in on-line retailing.

  • Discipline in using our tools and processes creates successful category managers who then take the initiative to improve these tools further.

Qualifications and skills

  • A graduate with a business or finance degree.

  • A couple of years of retail buying experience, ideally in retail or e- retail.

  • Polite, friendly and amiable disposition.

  • Good Excel and PowerPoint skills, coupled with strong written and oral communication skills.

  • A strong negotiator.

  • Track record of consistently over delivering.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced culture, where the only constant is change! And you adapt to change quickly and seamlessly.

  • You enjoy networking and building lasting relationships, who would refer you to others.

  • You get the bigger picture; you know your competitors; you’re a market expert; You work hard and play hard.

  • You’re up to speed on market / category trends; you put in the hours to be the best and most knowledgeable category manager.

  • You’re quick at understanding things, particularly technology, processes & the importance of relationships.

Location: Long Island City, New York
Duration: 12 or 18 months
Stipend: $2,100 - $2,600 per month
